Last week we started our ecosystems unit. Pairs of students are working togeher to build an ecocoulmn that will allow us to observe how an ecosytem works. This week we began putting together the terrarium part of our ecocolumns. Below, students are busy planting their seeds.

Electic Circuit final projects
To end our electric circuits unit, pairs of students worked together to wire a "house" so that each room had a seperate working light and switch using parallel circuits. We then had a "parade of homes" for the school.

Electric Circuits - Building Flashlights
The 5th graders have been learning about electric circuits for the past month. Yesterday, they used the knowledge they have about cirucits and switches to build a flashlight out of provided materials. Up next....wiring "houses"....stay tuned!

Science Models of the Respiratory System
We have been learning about systems of the body in Science. Here are the models of the respiratory system we made. We learned that it is the diaphragm that helps us inhale and exhale, not our lungs.
By pulling on the bottom balloon (our "diaphragm"), the top balloon (the "lung") takes in oxygen and expands.
